It was October when I started this blog with WorldPress. Finally, I’ve made the original theme. There are only 2 tabs in the header navigation. Since it must look better with more tabs, I’ll add some and enrich the content later.

By the way, WMP(multilingual content management systems) is my favourite WorldPress plug-in. Setting is easy and you can display “Language Selector”, which allow to switch languages, on your sidebar with no difficulty. You can also modify the colour of the Language Selector on WMP’s control panel easily (if you remember I complained about the default colour).

I didn’t want to use the default Language Selector and made the list of languages as you can see on this site. A useful reference is here.

I’ve been very busy for a week but it will continue only by the next weekend, I hope.

Well, I updated WPML to 1.4.0 and found the language selector on the sidebar change its color to the default cobalt blue… sigh. So, I decided to put the css code on the theme’s style.css like I described on my previous post.

I haven’t got any problem yet and it’s easy to control the whole site design.

I installed WPML (multilingual content management system) plug-in. It’s easy to use and I really like it.

But the thing is…. the default colour of language selector widget looks daft!

WPML - Language Selector

The cobalt blue doesn’t suite for my blog’s theme. I’d like to change it!! Now I’ve found the exactly same topic here in WPML forum.

•Easiest way to cusomize the language selector widget

I overwrote the language-selector.css in wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/res/css/ folder. You must change the colour code #09c (line:33) if you want a different background colour.

I don’t have much knowledge about PHP, so I could not understand wp_head() thing but it seems if you copy the code of language-selector.css into the current theme’s css, it works! Only you have to set the right path of nav-arrow-down.png, which is ../../plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/res/img/nav-arrow-down.png.

I think it’s easier to control the whole blog’s design when you put the css code within the theme’s style.css. Is there any drawbacks, I wonder?

All of my wordpress files are in “wordpress” directory but when someone accesses “www.studioeddies.com”, I want my wordpress page will show. This will be achieved with following a guide here.
Not too complicated but things are harder than it looks sometimes.

Reason 1. – Copy or Move
I think I did what the instruction said properly (Oh, I read the Japanese version) but it didn’t work. I also checked other website and confused . Do I have to “COPY” the index.php and .htaccess files or “Move” them to the root directory?
Now my wordpress is running as I desired and I’ve MOVED those files, not copied. I wonder what will happen if I leave those files in “wordpress” directory??

Reason 2. – .htaccess file
I don’t have much knowledge about .htaccess. When I move the .htaccess to root directory, PHP seemed to be reset (PHP5 was running but became PHP4). I could sort it out later. Relief…

Reason 3. – subdomain & redirection
Somehow I managed to access wordpress admin control panel but accessing the URL www.sudioeddies.com caused “Redirect loop error”. It took for hours to figure out the reason and finally I found that it’s because a subdomain and redirection setting on my server (www.webmasters.com).
I made the subdomain long time ago but I don’t use it actually. I can not remember whether I modified the redirection setting but turning off both of the setting made everything fine!

I know it depends on the server but if you get “Redirect loop Error” from your browser, it may worth checking your server’s subdomain and redirection setting.
